Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Charlie O'Connor

Question:

233 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Education and Science if his officials are in touch with the management of Scoil Treasa, Ballycullen Avenue, Dublin 24 regarding their accommodation difficulties; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14235/03]

My Department's building unit has written to the board of management of Scoil Treasa. The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie. On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include any further projects in 2003. In the meantime, individual schools should use their devolved grant to deal with any urgent health and safety works.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 234 to 236, inclusive, together.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department has approved temporary accommodation for these schools and the building programme was updated on my Department's website early last week. The temporary accommodation projects are listed in section 12 (primary) of the updated programme and for ease of reference these new projects are highlighted in green. These new projects are being funded from the contingency sum for emergencies as set out in section 1 of the programme.
