271 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the progress which has been made on the implementation of a key recommendation of the forum on broadcasting that a charter for RTE with five commitments be drawn up; and when the publication of this charter will take place. Following consultation with my Government colleagues I am finalising a draft public service charter for RTE. I will shortly publish the draft charter and will then initiate a public consultation process, inviting submissions from interested parties in relation to the draft charter. Separately, RTE published its statement of commitments for 2003 earlier this month. The statement of commitments sets out what RTE will deliver in return for the significant public funds made available to it and will assist in RTE's performance being reviewed at the end of each year.
