Written Answers. - Crime Prevention.

Joe Costello

Question:

375 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the regulations which govern the importation of firearms, including replica weapons, that is, toys; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14263/03]

In accordance with the Firearms Acts 1925 to 2000, a firearm may not be imported into the State without an importation licence granted by my Department. Replica firearms only come within the provisions of the firearms legislation if used in the commission of crime.
