Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

John McGuinness

Question:

418 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department is processing an application for funding for improvement to Moneenroe water supply, County Kilkenny, from Kilkenny County Council; and when a decision will be made in the case. [14718/03]

This scheme was not included in the list of water and sewerage schemes submitted by Kilkenny County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists were taken into account in the framing of the water services investment programme 2002-04, announced in April 2002. Given the position regarding the prioritisation of the scheme by the council, it has not been possible to include it in the programme.
