Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - FÁS Training Programmes.

Finian McGrath

Question:

444 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs if the breakfast club based at Priorswood national school, Dublin 17, will be assisted to retain the same staff in order to provide service and stability to the 1,500 children and to maintain a project that is working well. [14545/03]

The breakfast club in question is funded by the Department of Education and Science and is operated by FÁS trainees. My Department provides funding for the food element of the project but the issue of providing staff is a matter for the project itself. I understand that the training initiative started in February 2002 has been extended by FÁS up to the end of the current school year in June 2003 and that FÁS will provide training to 20 new trainees in order to operate the project from September 2003.
