Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Applications.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

142 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs when consultants will be appointed to assess applications for grants under the scheme for training and support in the community and voluntary sector; when it is expected that the grants will be awarded; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14375/03]

My Department invited proposals from consultants on 6 February 2003 for assessment of the 540 applications received under the scheme of grants for training and supports in the community and voluntary sector. Consultants were appointed on 15 April 2003 and began the assessment process on 28 April 2003. It is expected that this assessment will be completed by the end of June. All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application shortly thereafter.
