Question:

175 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the number of personnel recruited to the Army Nursing Service on an annual basis since 1997; and the hospitals they have been allocated to. [14535/03]

Since 1997, no army nurses have been recruited to the Army Nursing Service. However, three civilian nurses were recruited in 1998 to fill nursing positions with the Army Medical Corps.

The number of doctors appointed to the medical corps each year since 1997, along with the medical corps appointments to which they were assigned are as follows:
