Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Animal Diseases.

Denis Naughten

Question:

181 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food his plans to review the 45 days holding period for dealers after they purchase animals; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14254/03]

A period of 45 days is provided in the definitions of dealer in both the Diseases of Animals (Amendment) Act 2001 and the Diseases of Animals 1966 to 2001 (Approval of Dealers and Dealers Premises) Order 2001 (S.I. No 79 of 2001). This issue is among those being considered in this context of updating the Diseases of Animals Acts which is currently under way.
