Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Common Agricultural Policy.

Martin Ferris

Question:

192 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the amendments his Department have put forward as part of the ongoing negotiations on the proposed reform of the CAP. [14507/03]

While the procedure for adopting the Council regulations setting out the Common Agricultural Policy does not allow for formal amendments to Commission proposals by the member states, it is common practice for member states to put forward alternative proposals informally. I have clearly set out my position in the Council of Agriculture Ministers and my Department has participated in various technical discussions and in working groups.
