Vol. 567 No. 6

Written Answers. - Capital Projects.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

156 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if his Department has calculated the financial impact of the postponement or delay for whatever reason of various capital projects identified in the national development plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14968/03]

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 170 of 25 February last, in which I indicated that the estimated cost of completing the infrastructure set out in the economic and social infrastructure operational programme amounted to €40 billion. The mid-term evaluation of the NDP-CSF, which is being conducted by a team led by the ESRI, will assess progress under the NDP and developments in the external and macroeconomic environment to date, and make recommendations for adjustments to the NDP on foot of this analysis. Pending completion of this evaluation, it is not possible to estimate the extent to which all elements of the plan will be complete by 2006.
