Vol. 567 No. 6

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Martin Ferris

Question:

182 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if further finding will be made available for the completion of Dromatoor slip pier, Ballyheigue, County Kerry. [14798/03]

Dromatoor Pier is owned by Kerry County Council and responsibility for its repair and maintenance rests with the local authority in the first instance.

In 2002 Kerry County Council submitted a proposal to my Department for works at Dromatoor Pier at an estimated cost of €1 million. Exchequer funding of €208,476.74 was provided in 2002 for works at the pier. There is no Exchequer funding available in 2003 for this project. The question of funding these works in 2004-06 will be considered in the context of the funding available for works at fishery harbours generally and overall national priorities.
