Vol. 567 No. 6

Written Answers. - Environmental Policy.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

222 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government further to Parliamentary Question No. 80 of 1 April 2003, if he has since consulted with the EPA, the Department of Health and Children and others in relation to the Health Research Board's report on the health and environmental effects of landfilling and incineration of waste; if this organisation has supplied him with a written consideration of the report; if so, the details thereof; if he will publish their respective response; and if he will make a further statement on the HRB's report. [14916/03]

As indicated in reply to Question No. 166 of 14 May 2003, my Department has written to the Department of Health and Children on this issue and is awaiting a response.

There has been informal contact between my Department and the Environmental Protection Agency and this will be followed up on receipt and examination of the response from the Department of Health and Children. The need for consultation with other bodies will be examined in the context of my Department's ongoing consideration of the report.
