Vol. 567 No. 7

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Question:

196 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will review an application for a medical card in the names of persons (details supplied) in County Kilkenny which was refused; if a medical card will be issued based on the medical circumstances of these persons and the fact that they are old age pensioners; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14971/03]

Responsibility for the provision of a medical card is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board or authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him.
