Vol. 567 No. 7

Written Answers. - Autism Services.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

215 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children when provision can be made in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare, whose child is severely autistic and urgently needs assessment and respite or residential care; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15149/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Kildare area is a matter, in the first instance, for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
