Vol. 567 No. 7

Written Answers. - National Parks.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

250 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when a vacancy (details supplied) in County Donegal will be filled; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15153/03]

The conservation ranger post in Inishowen, County Donegal, is vacant arising from the transfer of the previous incumbent to another post within the national parks and wildlife section of my Department. Efforts to fill this vacancy, both internally from serving staff and externally from an existing panel drawn up by the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commission, were not successful. That panel has now lapsed. The commission has now been requested by my Department to proceed with the establishment of a new panel to fill this and other conservation ranger vacancies, and advertisements inviting applications for this panel are expected to be placed very soon.
