19 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on reports of the detention of three persons in Saudi Arabia, suspected of attempting to hijack an airliner with the intention of crashing it into a building; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14861/03]
I am aware of the media reports to which the Deputy refers. While it has been confirmed that at least two Moroccan citizens were arrested by the Saudi authorities on 21 May, there has been no confirmation that their intention was to hijack an aircraft and indeed the responsible Saudi Minister has declared that such reports are baseless.
