Vol. 567 No. 7

Written Answers. - Work Permits.

John McGuinness

Question:

105 Mr. McGuinness asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason a work permit was refused in a case (details supplied); and if the decision can be appealed.

The work permit was refused because the Department was not satisfied that all reasonable steps to recruit a suitably qualified Irish or EEA national far the job were taken. The wage on offer was also below that specified in the registered employment agreement for the appropriate position.

The employer has been notified of this decision and of his right to appeal it.

John McGuinness

Question:

106 Mr. McGuinness asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if a work permit will be issued immediately in a case (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Further information in relation to the application has been requested from the employer. On its receipt the application will be considered further.
