Vol. 569 No. 1

Written Answers. - Criminal Prosecutions.

John Deasy

Question:

131 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of prosecutions that took place in 2001 in each Garda division whereby a provisional licence holder was unaccompanied by a qualified driver. [17249/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that in 2001 there were 39,949 driving licence offences in which proceedings were taken. However, I am further informed that figures were not compiled in such a way as to distinguish between provisional driving licence holders and full driving licence holders, nor are they available in respect of Garda divisions.
