Vol. 569 No. 4

Written Answers. - WTO Negotiations.

Denis Naughten

Question:

155 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment further to Parliamentary Question No. 152 of 20 May 2003, and in view of the enterprise committee meeting, if she will update Dáil Éireann on her position; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18100/03]

Two Department officials met the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Enterprise and Small Business on Wednesday, 11 June 2003 last, where the trade matters groups paper, An Agenda for Trade Justice, was discussed. At the time of answering Question No. 152 of 20 May 2003, there was no parliamentary time available to hold a debate on trade issues in the Dáil. However, I am happy to inform Deputy Naughten that since that time the Chief Whip, Deputy Hanafin, has allocated time for such a debate on Friday morning next, 27 June. I will be participating in this debate with various other Government colleagues who have an interest in the WTO negotiations.
