Vol. 569 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

218 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the recommendations of the report of the committee on accident and emergency services with regard to its view that, in the Midland Health Board area, a regional emergency department be established at Tullamore; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17968/03]

The development of emergency medicine services in the context of the Comhairle na nOspidéal report on accident and emergency services is a matter for the Midland Health Board in the first instance. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to examine the issue and to reply to the Deputy directly.
