Vol. 569 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

271 Ms Enright asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the position relating to the payment of the urban and village renewal scheme grant to Offaly County Council; if the full amount of this grant will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17950/03]

A claim for €55,000 received from Offaly County Council on 18 December 2002 in respect of works carried out under the urban and village renewal programme was too late for payment in 2002. A further claim for €63,000 was received from the council in March 2003. Information requested to facilitate payment of these claims is still outstanding. The 2003 grant allocation to Offaly County Council is €281,000.

Question:

272 Ms Enright asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if progress has been made in arranging a meeting between Offaly County Council and himself in relation to the disabled persons grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17951/03]

A capital allocation of €482,000 for the payment of disabled person's and essential repairs grants was made to Offaly County Council on 5 June last. My officials will be in touch with the council within the next few days with a view to arranging the meeting sought by the council in relation to the disabled persons grants scheme.
