198 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a 2002 beef premium and extensification payment will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; the reason for the delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18388/03]

The person named submitted two applications in respect of a total of nine animals under the 2002 special beef premium scheme. Advance payment has issued in respect of these animals and the balancing payment will issue within the next two weeks.

The person named has also qualified for slaughter premium under the 2002 slaughter premium scheme in respect of three animals. As two of these animals were heifers under 30 months on the date of slaughter, an additional national envelope, slaughter, top-up payment is also payable. Advance payments of slaughter premium and national envelope have issued to the person named and balancing payments will issue within the next two weeks.

The person named participated in 2002 extensification premium opting for the census system for the purposes of determining eligibility. A stocking density of 1.1716 livestock units per hectare has been established which will attract payment at the higher rate of €80.00 per qualifying animal. It is expected that payment amounting to €720.00 will issue within the next two weeks.

The processing of this application is complete and payment should issue within the next ten days.

200 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has received a REP scheme appeal from a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18405/03]

The agriculture appeals office received an appeal from this person on 16 June 2003. Appeals require individual examination and are dealt with in the order in which they are received. This appeal will be examined in due course and the appellant will be notified of the outcome.
