Vol. 570 No. 2

Written Answers. - Strategic Management Initiative.

Richard Bruton

Question:

236 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance the key indicators of input, output, outcome and performance which his Department monitors as part of the strategic management initiative; and the trend in these indicators in each year since 1997. [18688/03]

The Department of Finance has set out its strategic priorities, high level objectives and associated indicators in the statements of strategy published by the Department since March 1997. The indicators used refer where appropriate to input, output, outcome and performance generally. Information and details of progress on each of the key indicators for my Department, including the trends in relation to each, must be considered in the context of the goals and objectives to which they relate. Commentary on the progress made in achieving each of the Department's strategic priorities and their related objectives, including commentary in relation to the indicators used, is set out in the annual progress reports published by my Department under the Public Service Management Act 1997, the first of which was published in September 1999. Copies of these publications are available in the Oireachtas Library. The most recent statement of strategy for the Department, in respect of the period 2003-05, was published in April 2003, while the progress report in respect of the calendar year 2002 is at an advanced stage of preparation and will be published shortly.
