Vol. 570 No. 2

Written Answers. - Prisoner Transfers.

Jack Wall

Question:

487 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a person (details supplied) in County Kildare will be considered for a transfer to a prison nearer home; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18528/03]

I am informed by the Director General of the Irish Prison Service that the person referred to has now applied for a move from Cork Prison. I have no difficulty in approving a transfer for this individual to the Midlands Prison. However, it is important to note that, for operational reasons, it may be some time before this transfer takes place.
