Vol. 570 No. 4

Written Answers. - Vaccination Programme.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

277 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason, in view of the low take up of the MMR vaccine here, in some areas as low as 50%, and the fact that Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin caters for a large concentration of very ill and immunosuppressed children, such immunosuppressed children are safe to attend the hospital in view of the current measles epidemic and the fact that the hospital has just two isolation beds and these are in the ICU department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19452/03]

Services at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority and my Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to examine this issue and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Question No. 278 answered with Question No. 274.
