Vol. 570 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

309 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the threats of a group (details supplied) to demonstrate against the holding of the European Competitiveness Summit of the World Economic Forum in Dublin in October 2003; and if appropriate measures will be put in place to ensure that the summit can proceed without disruption. [18253/03]

I am advised by the Garda authorities that they have been liaising with other European police services to determine if intelligence is available with regard to any protests being planned by groups or individuals during the summit. All appropriate security arrangements will be put in place for the duration of the summit by the Garda authorities.
