270 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if a work permit will be approved for a person (details supplied) in the Philippines; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20864/03]
An application for the individual concerned was received on 28 August 2003. It is policy to process work permit applications in the order in which they are received. Assuming the application is completed correctly and is otherwise in order it is likely to be processed within the next two weeks. The Department is now issuing work permits at a rate of 1,000 per week.
