Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Job Creation.

Jack Wall

Question:

271 Mr. Wall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the up to date position in regard to the advance factory in Athy, County Kildare; the number of itineraries that have visited the factory in the past six months; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20914/03]

The management of the IDA Ireland property portfolio is a day-to-day operational matter for the agency and not one in which I have a direct function. The IDA is actively marketing the advance factory in Athy through its network of overseas offices and there have been three visits by overseas investors to the factory in the last six months. Ultimately, it is the overseas investors who decide on location, including the potential locations they want to visit. I am confident that the strategies and policies being pursued by IDA Ireland in County Kildare will bear fruit in terms of additional investment and jobs for the county.
