Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Motor Insurance Advisory Board.

Brendan Smith

Question:

274 Mr. B. Smith asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress to date in implementing the recommendations of the Motor Insurance Advisory Board; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21026/03]

Of the 67 MIAB recommendations, 23 have been implemented, three have been partially implemented and 28 are being actively progressed. Significant progress has been made in relation to key areas such as the establishment of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board on a statutory basis, the implementation of the road safety strategy, including the introduction of penalty points, the introduction of measures to deal with fraud and exaggerated claims and the streamlining of the law in relation to personal injury claims.
