Question:

320 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the implications for the Irish sugar beet industry as a result of the recent WTO talks; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20675/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 319 and 320 together.

As the recent WTO talks did not come to any conclusion there are no implications to report. With regard to CAP, while the EU Commission has presented various options for reform of the sugar regime formal proposals have not as yet been made. Any reform of the regime will, of course, affect all member states of the European Union and will be decided on by the EU Council of Ministers on the basis of proposals put forward by the EU Commission.
