Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Expenditure.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

403 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance whether spending by each Department is likely to be on target by the end of 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21275/03]

The Revised Estimates for Public Services published last February provides that net voted spending on departmental services will be €30.8 billion in 2003. The end August Exchequer returns showed that net spending by Departments and offices is some €1.27 billion below profile, of which €748 million is current and €519 million is capital spending. This was primarily due to timing factors. My current expectation is that the overall and departmental spending outturn will be broadly in line with the February target.
