Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

460 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education and Science if there are negotiations to make available a site at Tivoli, Dún Laoghaire, for the Monkstown Educate Together School; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19665/03]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works recently submitted a report to my Department on the issue of site acquisition for Monkstown Educate Together national school. Due to the commercial sensitivity of the process involved, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on any individual aspect at this time. However, the report is being considered in the school planning section in the context of framing the capital programme for 2004. Any decision to proceed with a purchase will be dependent on the financial allocation for 2004 and subsequent years and the competing priorities for that funding. In the meantime, my Department will continue to grant aid the use of temporary accommodation by the school at a rate of 95% of the cost.
