Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Working Group on Vetting Procedures.

Seán Crowe

Question:

478 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department is represented on the working group established by the Garda Commissioner to examine the extension of clearance arrangements provided by the Garda's central vetting unit; the number of meetings which have been attended by representatives of his Department; the number of meetings which have taken place; the consultation which has taken place between his Department and parents and teacher groups on this matter; and the proposals his Department has made to the working group. [19805/03]

I have nominated a senior official from my Department to sit on the working group. Two meetings have taken place so far, at the first of which the Department was represented. At this stage internal consultations are ongoing within my Department to prepare initial views for the working group and as yet teachers' and parents' representatives have not been consulted.

Question No. 479 answered with Question No. 454.
