537 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason funding has not been approved for the appointment of a classroom assistant for a person (details supplied) at St. Mary's secondary school, Ballygar, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20201/03]

My Department has sanctioned an allocation of part-time resource teacher support and a full-time special needs assistant to cater for the pupil in question for the 2003-04 school year. The school authorities have been notified of this decision.
