Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Student Support Schemes.

Seán Haughey

Question:

546 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education and Science the third level student support schemes which are available to a 28 year old person who already has a BA degree in psychology from a private college and who, seven years later, wishes to study for a four year degree course in occupational therapy in Trinity College, Dublin, with a view to securing suitable employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20281/03]

Under the terms of my Department's free fees initiative and the maintenance grants schemes, candidates who already hold an undergraduate degree and are pursuing a second undergraduate degree are not eligible for assistance. However, tax relief is available in respect of any tuition fees paid. Full details and application arrangements are available from the Revenue Commissioners.
