Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Denis Naughten

Question:

654 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will approve funding for Abbey boys' national school, Roscommon town, in view of the fact that this project is currently at an advanced stage of architectural planning and a substantial amount of local funds have already been collected for the project; when this project will be approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20842/03]

The extension project at Abbey boys' national school, County Roscommon is currently at stage 4-5 of architectural planning – detail design-bills of quantities. My Department has published the schools building programme for 2003 and on the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include this project in those to start construction in 2003. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on projects that could not be included in this year's programme.
