Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

695 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a revised furniture grant application in respect of the North Kildare Educate Together school at Ballymakealy, Celbridge, County Kildare; if he will provide funding for the required furniture or give a commitment that funding approval will issue to the school in January 2004; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21181/03]

Based on the budgetary allocation for 2003 my Department was only in a position to set aside €1.2 million for the purchase of furniture in primary schools throughout 2003. Applications for funding had therefore to be prioritised in order to remain within this allocation. It was therefore not possible to provide funding for the replacement of furniture to North Kildare Educate Together school.

Question No. 696 answered with Question No. 683.
