Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Television Licence Fees.

Finian McGrath

Question:

741 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if his Department will urgently investigate a query (details supplied) regarding the black and white television licence fee. [19774/03]

The Television Licence Regulations 2002 came into effect on 1 January of this year. Under the 2002 regulations there is only one category of television licence and the cost of that licence is €150. There is a statutory obligation to have a licence and the one licence covers either colour or monochrome television sets. Under the previous regulations there had been two categories of licence, that is, a colour licence and a monochrome licence.
