768 Mr. Coveney asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the target hectarage for planting of forestry for the coming year; and if there are accepted and approved applications for planting that will not be fulfilled due to lack of funds for planting grant aid. [21344/03]
The Government remains committed to the long-term development of the forestry sector. Planting levels in 2004 are contingent on the level of funding available. Decisions on the funding of all programmes, including afforestation, will be made by the Government in the context of the annual Estimates process and will be announced on budget day in December. Planting levels for 2004 will be determined in that context.
