Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Transfer of Funds.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

168 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance the resources which will remain for transfer to the Exchequer by the end of 2003 from the social insurance fund, Central Bank reserves, debt sinking funds or other one of sources; and his views on whether such reserves should be transferred to the Exchequer. [20927/03]

There is no provision in budget 2003 for the transfer of any funds from the social insurance fund or the Central Bank reserves to the Exchequer. To end-August 2003, €479 million has been transferred from the sinking fund in 2003 out of a total budget provision of €481million. The sinking fund provision is a transfer from the current account to the capital account to reduce national debt.
