Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Billy Timmins

Question:

1098 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position in relation to a request from persons (details supplied) in County Wicklow who are willing to carry out repairs to the Garda barracks in Dunlavin in order to have a garda living in the village; if permission can be given to them to carry out the necessary improvements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19623/03]

It is the intention to provide a new, small, Garda station in Dunlavin and, to this end, an appropriate site is being sought by the Office of Public Works. Accordingly, it is too early to indicate when the new station might be built.

It is a matter for the Office of Public Works to consider any request from persons wishing to carry out works to the existing Garda station.
