Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

1239 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will approve the sketch scheme drawings for the proposed new Garda station at Leixlip, County Kildare; the time frame for the building of the new station; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21294/03]

As a consequence of the sketch scheme drawings for the proposed new station receiving consideration by the gardaí, the Garda authorities are revising the accommodation needs of the gardaí in Leixlip to take full account of the policing requirements of the area. When the accommodation requirements are finalised, the Office of Public Works will be asked to prepare a revised sketch scheme for further consideration.

Accordingly, the Deputy will appreciate that I cannot give a time frame for construction of the new station.
