Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

John McGuinness

Question:

1288 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if a voluntary housing project at the Five Acres, Celbridge, County Kildare, has been approved by his Department and the local authority; if the contractor has been appointed; if so, when work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20450/03]

My Department is awaiting additional information requested recently from Kildare County Council in relation to its applications for funding for this project under the capital funding schemes for voluntary housing. Further consideration will be given to the project when this information is received.

Richard Bruton

Question:

1289 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the reason for the continued delay in sanctioning the refurbishment of Bunratty Road maisonettes in Dublin 17; and if arrangements will be made to remove the obstacles that are holding this up. [20451/03]

Dublin City Council submitted proposals to my Department for a remedial works scheme for 144 maisonettes at Bunratty Road. Following examination of these proposals, my Department wrote to the city council on 25 March and requested the city council to re-examine the value for money basis of the proposals in order to achieve a more acceptable cost. Dublin City Council wrote to my Department in May of this year indicating that it is carrying out a complete review of the project and that my Department will be informed of the outcome in due course.
