Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Paul McGrath

Question:

1299 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if an application for funds to upgrade Ennell Court Estate, Patrick Street, Mullingar, County Westmeath, has been received from Westmeath County Council; the date this application was first received; the progress made on this application to date; when approval was given to proceed with a pilot project on this estate; the funds which have been approved for this project in 2003; when this project is likely to commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20684/03]

Westmeath County Council submitted an application to my Department in November 1997 for funding under the remedial works scheme for the refurbishment of Ennell Court, Mullingar. The estate was designated for funding under the remedial works scheme in November 2000 and the county council was requested at that time to prepare tender documentation for a four-house pilot phase. It is understood that the county council has engaged consultants to prepare plans and costings and work is at an advanced stage. It is expected that proposals will be submitted to my Department for consideration shortly.
