Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Denis Naughten

Question:

1309 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if he will provide funding to Roscommon County Council to upgrade the Ballinlough-Cloonfad regional water supply which urgently requires investment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21000/03]

No proposals have been received in my Department in respect of the Ballinlough-Cloonfad regional water supply scheme. However, Castlerea regional water supply scheme and north Roscommon regional water supply scheme, for which Roscommon County Council is preparing briefs for the appointment of consultants, are included in my Department's water services investment programme 2003-2005 to enter planning. Those latter two schemes, when completed, will have the effect of reducing demand on the Ballinlough-Loughglynn regional water supply scheme, which also includes Cloonfad.

Question:

1310 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if he will provide funding to Roscommon County Council to upgrade the south Roscommon regional water supply, which urgently requires investment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21001/03]

The south Roscommon regional water supply scheme is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2003-2005 to commence construction in 2004. In July 2002 I approved a brief, submitted by Roscommon County Council, for the appointment of a client's representative to prepare a design review report and contract documents for this and a number of other schemes in the county being advanced as a grouped project. Further progress on the scheme is a matter for Roscommon County Council.
