Question:224 Mr. Naughten asked the Taoiseach the action he intends to take following his meeting with the former staff of a company (details supplied) on 2 September 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19972/03]

I met with an action group that included former staff of the company concerned on 2 September. Senior representatives from Enterprise Ireland were in attendance as well. It was agreed that the immediate key aim is to stabilise current employment at the facility. It was further agreed that Enterprise Ireland would investigate the possibility of utilising some of the unused portion of the site for further business and employment activities. I understand that the group met subsequently with the Tánaiste. I can assure the Deputy that the matter will continue to receive high level attention and commitment.
