Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

274 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the specific allocation of his staff whose principal duty is to ensure that his Department is effectively engaged with RAPID communities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21394/03]

The Department has, to date, received a limited number of applications under the RAPID programme. All such applications are processed by the relevant division of my Department responsible for the sectoral area concerned, when requested by Area Development Management Limited, ADM. ADM administers the RAPID programme on behalf of the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, which has overall responsibility for implementation of the programme. Since staff in the individual divisions of my Department deal with RAPID as it arises in their programme areas, a specific allocation of staff whose principal duty is engagement with RAPID communities is not therefore necessary.
