Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Programmes.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

281 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the specific allocation of his staff whose principal duty is to ensure that his Department is effectively engaged with RAPID communities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21396/03]

The Department's planning and evaluation unit co-ordinates the Department of Health and Children's responsibilities in relation to the RAPID programme. This work involves management input by the principal officer of the unit and further such significant involvement of one assistant principal officer. An administrative officer is engaged full-time in the role of co-ordinating the RAPID and CLÁR programmes and is supported, where necessary, at executive and clerical level. In addition, each health board and regional authority has a RAPID co-ordinator, who is responsible for ensuring that the health board's commitments in relation to the RAPID programme are fulfilled. Health boards are also represented on local RAPID area implementation teams by relevant personnel.
