Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - EU Directives.

Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Question:

201 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Taoiseach if he gave a direction to various Government Departments in April of this year in relation to accelerating the procedural delays responsible for delaying the enactment of over 50 outstanding EU directives; the extra resources he has authorised to facilitate this; the EU directives outstanding now; the reason for the delay in each case; and when the backlog will be cleared. [21535/03]

Last April I wrote to my Cabinet colleagues asking them to accord the highest priority to the transposition of EU directives with a view to ensuring that all outstanding measures are transposed by the end of this year. It is a matter for each Department to allocate resources sufficient to ensure that EU measures are transposed. My Department has no outstanding measures for transposition.
