Question:

138 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of Freedom of Information requests received by his Department during each week from January 2003 to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21661/03]

The information that the Deputy requested is set out in the following table. The Deputy will note that my Department continues to receive the largest number of requests of all public bodies. The majority of the requests are from former residents of industrial and reform schools who are seeking documentation about their stay in such institutions. My Department is committed to ensuring that the highest level of service is provided for freedom of information requesters.
